SOFTWARE FOR GLIDERS Garmin GPS models with a barometric altimeter offer several software features intended to simplify navigation, competition and record keeping in a variety of gliding sports. The Glide Ratio and Glide Ratio to Destination feature uses GPS altimeter functions to help competitors determine if they can reach their target without passing a point of no return. The Vertical Speed to Destination features uses GPS altimeter functions to recommend the optimal speed to reach a checkpoint in a gliding time trial. Additionally, the manual route transition feature helps users to maintain an active leg to a checkpoint.
