The Garmin eTrex Venture offers a worldwide database of cities (similar to the GPS 12XL database) and one megabyte of internal memory which accepts downloaded information from Garmin's new MapSource US Points of Interest CDROM. The CD enables users to download locations such as restaurants, hotels, shopping, entertainment, campgrounds, navaids, etc. Once the information is loaded into the unit, you can lookup a destination and view the telephone and address information.

Database detail is presented on a high resolution liquid crystal display (268 x 160 pixel, FSTN). The rocker switch on the front allows for quick and accurate map panning, as well as selection and enter functions.

As a result of processing speed, built-in memory and the high resolution display, the Garmin eTrex Venture offers full-feature navigation capabilities. Satellite status and navigation displays provide details for both the basic and advanced user.

The Venture can provide position accuracy to less than 3 metres when receiving WAAS corrections.

• Waterproofness: Meet rigid IEC 529 IPX7 waterproofness standard (submersible for 30 minutes at a depth of 1 meter) NB: Electronics are protected if immersed, but battery compartment may get wet. Make sure batteries and compartment are dry before using.
• Display Resolution: High resolution screen, 160 x 288 pixels, 17454 pixels per square inch
• Position Format: May be selected. Latitude/Longitude, UTM/UPS, Maidenhead, MGRS, Loran TDs, and other grids included.
• Display Language: User interface may be customized for English, French, Spanish, German, Italian or Swedish.
• Area Calculation: Venture version 2.26 software update added a new accessory to calculate the area of a track. The area of a saved track is displayed on the track detail page.

WORLDWIDE CITY DATABASE!
• A Worldwide City database is pre-loaded into memory.
• If MapSource data is loaded to the Venture, the preloaded database will be erased. To recover this data the preloaded database file can be downloaded from GARMIN's web site.
• MapSource data and the Worldwide City database cannot be loaded at the same time.

MAP FEATURE DISPLAY ON THE VENTURE: Although the Venture does not display maps, user "map features" can be created on a PC for download to the Venture to enhance the display! Click here for suggestions.
